2006 330i -- Rough Idle, Vibration under Power, SES light

Hello all,

I got into my car this morning and felt that it was running very rough immediately after starting it-- inconsistent idle speed, moderate vibration etc. I shut it down and started it back up again only to feel the same shaking. No SES light yet.

I pulled out of the driveway normally and noticed that the whole car was vibrating like crazy at low engine speeds, and applying throttle made the issue much worse. At this point the SES light came on.

Continuing to drive around town for a little while, I noticed a few additional symptoms: 1) car feels like it has reduced power. 2) attempting to accelerate from low RPM's produces the most noticeable vibration/shake. 3) the above described shaking almost completely disappears at ~4000 RPM.

I have a code reader, but a family member has it today and will not be home until the evening. In the mean time I am pondering potential issues. Spark plugs were replaced a few hundred miles ago so I think ignition coils are next. Any thoughts?
