E90 LCI DRL stopped working

I have a LCI E90 with xenon headlights. Today I got an error message saying there is a fault with the left side DRL/sidelight.

I have had a look and both rings are not working. I doubt both bulbs have failed for both rings at the same time.

Any idea on the cause?
