Winter is coming...

FFTEC Motorsports N54 Top Mount

Curious as to if anyone has ever looked into this kit. I know of the others that are out there such as the recently released and amazingly priced VM top mount kit. But I was wanting to go this way as I DO want to run a 6466. Because - Why not? (I know a 6262 will already be overkill).

Now, I can tell this kit will require extensive modifications along with some custom fab work to make it fit and already contacted them on their input - Which I am fine with.

But it just seems little odd to me that it doesn't even come with waste gates or the intake piping/plumbing such as the VM kit. Which I kind of thought 5600 is quite a bit for just the Manifold, Downpipe, Dump tubes, Coolant line and some oil drain lines. Unless it's just me?

Which is why I'm curious if anyone else has ever done this kit and if it's worth going through all the trouble and cost. And if its price is justified.

I have the engine out and all torn apart getting new gaskets and cleaned up, but until then I haven't fully decided on what Top mount kit to go with that would support some heavy boost and a large 6466.

Would love some good input on this!

EGR Cooler Hose - kinked

I'm guessing this isn't normal? How does this hose get soo hot as to deform, on this side of the motor?

Thoughts? (yes, yes... block the damned thing lol)

Good thing the part is cheap.

Thanks Technic.... for the memories!

Someone posted last night that he got banned ... i don't know why either. But I responded to the thread. Eventually the thread was deleted, and i'm guessing this one will be too. Lets see how long it takes :D

Just wanted to publicly acknowledge how helpful the dude was to all us BMW and especially audio enthusiasts who wanted to upgrade/mod our audio systems to something better. The guy was unlike other sponsors in that he was actually helpful and was more or less one of us - regular everyday joes who cared about our cars and wanted to help the community in providing timely information on how to do audio upgrades. Because he's been around so long and was so knowledgeable on these boards, he could at times be a little bit of an a** h*** but i guess theres some of that in all of us who own BMWs.

But that brings up another subject about sponsorship. I get the general idea in that sponsors are here to make money, and the forum owners need money to keep these boards running, so sponsors get charged a fee/subscription for the privilege/right to post their "ads" to a very targeted demographic they are trying to sell to. A match made in heaven.

But Technic was in a special category though... he was almost certainly a sponser, as everyone went to him for this audio harnesses, but he almost rode a fine line between a regular forum member as well. I'm guessing the ban was related to crossing over that line. But i don't know that for sure.

In any case, hats off to you bro! Hope they let you back in here, and thanks once again for all the informative stuff you've posted over the years. Most of them have been bookmarked!
