Problem we have is the hifi head unit's output signals are 5V differential balance. My old amps do not accept differential balanced input. Punch 30HD and Punch 45 from the 90's. I like these amps.
The commonly used LOC here is the Audio Control L2Ci which is about $70. There is also the JL Audio CL-RLC. But for $50-$70 more, I might as well buy a new Kicker amp.
I found this LOC by PAC LP7-2 ($20 from eBay) it should be able to convert 5V differential balanced to 2V unbalanced. Website says accepts both high and low level inputs. It is not resistor based like most LOC's, but actually transistor based. It replaces the SOEM-T, and It's similar to the VEN4 used along time ago, but this is actually designed for low level.
I'm not sure if it will convert and cancel out noise like a proper converter. So I'm asking the forum. Has anyone used this LOC before? Was there noise, hiss, engine whin etc? Did you use filters?
