Hey guys I just wanted to write a quick review of my experience at Motive Auto Work in Woburn, MA.
It all started when it came time to install CP-E downpipes and a VRSF Exhaust and DPFIX. I called around to a few shops to get estimates and pick some brains before making a decision.
Jason the shop manager originally answered my call. Enthusiastic, cool and Professional. I made some inquiries and he said he would have the main mechanic and shop owner call me. Alberto, the owner and man who does the work called me back. I was immediately impressed by his knowledge and thoroughness when it came to asking specific questions about the exhaust, DP's as well as other general car maintenance items to be considered. Call it a background check. This man knows his N54's.
I made my decision to go with his shop and scheduled the install. Upon arriving my car was promptly pulled in. Some more background questions as to what my expectations were, what has happened recently, other maintenance related items worth speaking about since he was going to be inside the engine anyways.
I knew I came to the right place. The car was up in the air and being unbuttoned before I knew it. As the work progressed we had some fitment issues with the VRSF exhaust which I expected. A long the way Alberto was very informative about other common maintenance issues and things he has seen with N54's. Since I am a maintenance stickler most of my bases were covered but he pointed out quite a few things to keep in mind.
The downpipes bolted up perfectly the exhaust system was leak free and a solid fit even though it was a PITA at the DP mount. (the flange of the VRSF where it mates to the DP's needed double gaskets on one side as it is not a flush fitment.)
Once everything was down more leak tests as well as other checks were performed. They buttoned the car back up, checked a few more things and installed the DPFIX.
Car sounds AWESOME. The start is aggressive and head turning but once it boils down to idle its a C-Hair louder than stock. Give it a couple of rips and the tone is just smooth and beautiful. The engine comes alive with the sound of turbines a smooth deep note and a little bark.
I am already scheduling install for my chargepipe as well as replacing all the coils and plugs before getting tuned. Alberto definitely won my business and I look forward to working with him on any more of future upgrades as well as maintenance.
