Another vibration at highway speed thread, but wait theres more!

Ever since I got new tires installed Ive had shaking in the steering wheel and car from 50-70 mph. Had those tires roadforce balanced twice, and one wheel "fixed", but the problem was still there. Over time the vibrations became less obvious, but still annoying.

Last weekend I replaced the front disks/brakes, and reinstalled the wheels as is - without cleaning up all the rust in the hub. Took the car for a spin to bed in the new rotors and pads, and the drive was smooth. Less vibration than before. I even thought the new rotors must have done it.

Day after that I took the wheels off to clean them and clean the hubs from all that gunk accumulated over the years. Applied some grease to prevent wheels from sticking again. Took the car for a drive and now its worse than ever.

What the hell is going on? Is there a special procedure to mount the tires? Like mount and torque them while off ground? Do I need to throw away my wheels?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
