How is the leather carbon trim attached?

Just curious, how is the leather carbon trim attached to the dashboard? Is it glued on? Is it just like a sleeve/glove? Can it be reattached?



Was thinking of painting or using vinyl on my interior trim pieces: dash and center console, and was hoping to use the current one to try, and if it didn't come out well, reattach the leather.
