Bilstein B8 rear shocks installation?

Hi guys, I bought Bilstein B8 for my E92 335i. I am gonna install it myself. Rear shocks comes with 3 piece (shock, washer and dust cover). I don't know where to attach the washer. I have mounting instruction, but it doesn't show the washer.

Do E92 stock mufflers fit on E90? (both from 2011 xDrive LCI cars)

Someone local is selling the stock mufflers from an 2011 E92 xDrive.

Will they fit my 2011 E90 xDrive?

Reason I'm interested is because I have the PE mod and a DP but find it too droney with the windows up and thinking of going back to stock exhaust.

Thanks!

LF: (urgent) 10mm spacers and bolts

So installed bc coilovers and found out the fronts are thicker than stock, resulting in my 9.5" wheels not clearing. Test fitted some 5mm spacers and there's a bee dicks space between the rim and strut...

So yeah, hoping someone has a pair of 10mm spacers lying around.

Located se Melb but can pretty much drive anywhere in Victoria to pick up.

Oh and if anyone has any ideas where I can buy a pair from a shop or something this weekend, I will love you long time!

Thanks in advance peeps

New NGK 5992's, BOV, misc..

I am willing to ship all items anywhere in the continental US at buyers expense.

1. Six (6) brand new NGK 5992's. I accidentally ordered these and another set a while back, so I have no use for these. Never even opened the packing. 70 shipped.

2. Stock charge pipe with DV's. Good condition, only took it off because I wanted to run a Tial BOV. This comes with the C-clip/o-ring/clamp for intercooler side but DOES NOT COME WITH SCREWS. None whatsoever. Not a one. 100 bucks + shipping.

3. HKS SQV3(?) BOV. It is the black version. Scuffed up pretty good but worked great when I had it on an Audi. I bought it used, but all research that I have done suggests it is real. That being said, I am still selling it cheap. 100 bucks shipped. Has the c-clip but MISSING O-RING.

Will trade any and everything for other N54 aftermarket stuff. Thanks

Edit: pictures will be up later today. I'm out of time right now.

N55 small misfire at stops?

I posted this in the 135i but the forum is not as heavily populated as this one.

Recently just replaced all ignition coils and spark plugs on my 2012 BMW 135i. Car feels like new and runs great but this caused another issue to show up.

When I am driving the car and come to a stop at a light or sign, the car will have a very slight misfire feeling every 10 - 15 seconds. No warning lights or problems as far as driving goes.

When the parts were installed I did find an oil leak that will need to be repaired eventually but no real issues with the car.

My suspicions are HPFP injectors need to be cleaned or replaced?

*Side note*
took the car to the dealer to get this inspected, they kept my car for a week before contacting me to tell me they couldn't inspect the car because of the JB4. Never had this issue with my original dealership in Georgia. Wasted my time!

Please help, thanks

Tips for My E92 Hunt

Hey guys. First off love this forum and the community. I will be buying a used e92 soon (next few months) and was hoping you guys could share some insight.

I have done quite a bit of research so I am well versed with the n54 platform. But I was wondering about the HPFP. I know there was a recall on them and some owners Ive seen say they had it replaced up to 4 times. Has BMW got this under control with their repairs?

So with that out of the way, my criteria is pretty simple. Looking for one with 50,000 miles or less, avoiding the first year model ('07). I do have color preferences but thats flexible. Really just looking for a clean used 335i e92. I will be modifying shortly after buying with a Jb4 g5 Iso, downpipes and intake. I know CPO is the way to go but I might not be able to get my hands on a CPO.

Im also looking at a few used b8 S4's but living here in California I dont really need the AWD. Also, being able to tune with ease is very attractive to me. But I have always been fond of the S4, although a little nose heavy.

Do you guys have any tips you can pass on which could help me avoid future headaches? Any questions I should be asking or things to look out for?

I dont want to make this a s4 v 335i thread as I am sure that has been covered but I am curious if anyone has actually gone from an s4 to the 335i.

Thanks for any help.

Feeler: Custom Twin Oil Cooler

Background: I have an early build 335i with no oil cooler and during the summer or any hot day I've notice how high my temps go. So I figured it's time to get the oem oil cooler setup. Spending a couple hours sourcing parts, I realized going twin aftermarket was cheaper and more reliable.

I really don't want to fork out over $1300 for an ER Competition oil cooler yet alone the $700 for their basic setup, so I've started sourcing my own parts. With the build I'll be using oem filter housing and thermostat.

I've found pretty much everything they are offering except for a mounting bracket and shield. So far under $250 spent on parts ;)

I'll be fabricating my own mounts soon and fitting everything on my car.

I currently have a broken arm right now so this build will be slow. Not sure if anyone has done this yet as I'm too lazy to search.

Once everything is finalized I'll provide a list of parts and where to get them. I'll also provide blueprints for the mount or sell them.

Please don't bash my thoughts only kind words or GTFO.

3 track events and oil is still good!

Contrary to popular belief you do NOT have to change your oil after every track event.

I used to change my oil after each event but I decided to send my oil in to Blackstone Labs for an analysis. They said the oil was perfect and try doing 3 or 4 more events.

Well I did that. Below is the Oil Analysis report after 3 track events and the oil still looks good. It's only been about 3K total miles on the oil but either way, you do not need to change your oil after every event... at least for our dual purpose HPDE vehicles. :D

Here's the report:

Huge Custom Oil Cooler

In my quest to solve the dreaded limp mode which I've encountered on multiple tracks I finally decided to build my own Oil Cooler. It's sorta a copy of the Stett oil cooler but I'm using a 215 degree Improved Racing external thermostat vs the 180 degree Mocal thermostat that comes with their kit.

All in parts cost me about $900 but that's because I went with a huge 34 row Setrab oil cooler, Improved Racing External Thermostat, and very high quality industrial grade fittings and hose (long story). It could be $300-400 cheaper depending on options.

Even with the Mishimoto Radiator, I hit 270+ degree oil temps at the track. Cruising around town my oil temps were 240 degrees.

With new new oil cooler setup I'm now crusing at 215-220 oil temps! 20 degrees cooler is not too shabby. This, along with my vented hood will hopefully solve my cooling issues.

I have a track event next Friday Oct 9th so stay tuned for my report...

Enjoy the pics!

Crappy ebay hose... no one local sells the SS hoses or fittings that I needed so I had no choice but to buy all new industrial grade fittings and hose (very expensive but very highly quality).

New fitting and new hose. The ebay hose could be pinched with your thumb and pinky; this hose is rock solid.

Is there a benefit to higher end coilovers for daily driver

Hi All,

Just wondering if there is any benefit to higher end coilovers for a daily driver

Looking at kv1s, BC RC, and St.

But will spend the money if there is a benefit with say kv2s or kv3s or even Ohlins

Car will not be tracked

Thanks for the help

highest sidewall on 230's?

hello, after countless broken tyres on potholes, last double one (front and rear) happened yesterday, I want to put as much sidewall as possible on the stock recommended 225/35/19 wheel, but reading about this diameters and stuff, I am confused and the higher number don't necessary means it will be also higher sidewall, so what size would have highest sidewall? 225/40? 235/40? 230/45? basically I want to make it more comfortable and more room for tyre to squeeze when there are holes or jumps over the road, even though i don't think i will avoid another tyre crash in the future, i just wanna eliminate it as much as I can, with no downsizing to 18's
the rear is running now 255/35/19, over the recommended 255/30/19....but there is minimal difference, as this tyre also exploded yesterday, and it's nightmare, this is happening every second month to me...it's crazy. the car is old, nobody wants to pay any real money for it, so i have to keep it....but it's a disaster since the beginning about 3 years ago, i decided to buy it...

Diesel Prices Above Gas Again...Coincidence?

Noticed that the price of diesel in my area is up $.10 or more over gasoline now. Diesel was $.10-$.25 cheaper than gas here a week ago. It seems to be happening at the same time as the VW issue. Maybe just a coincidence, or could petroleum companies be forecasting a decrease in diesel fuel sales? Anyone else notice a price increase?

Can someone please tell me how to remove the torque converter from the engine? Does it require a special tool?

2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet a "Flagship Land Yacht!"

That'll Work...!

Quote:

Starting up top – literally – this big-boned beauty features a three-layer fabric roof to keep that old harpy mother nature at bay. It can be operated at speeds up to 37 miles an hour, taking just 20 seconds to fold away or redeploy.

Putting the roof down reveals what the company describes as a “yacht-like atmosphere,” which makes sense because the S-Class sedan on which this cabriolet is based has arguably the nicest interior in its segment. Top-shelf materials abound, as does tasteful design and tons of technology.

Keeping occupants comfy-cozy is a groundbreaking climate-control system. It’s fully computer networked and sports 12 sensors as well as 18 separate actuators. The car’s AIRCAP wind deflectors reduce turbulence and noise while the AIRSCARF system provides neck-level heating for maximum comfort. Beyond all of this, there are heated seats and optional heated armrests. Hell, you could probably drive one of these cars through a blizzard with the top down and still sweat your ass off.

S550 Cabriolet models sport a 4.6-liter V8 engine that churns out 449 horsepower along with 516 lb-ft of torque. They’re matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission for maximum driving pleasure and fuel efficiency.

Beyond this, the company will also offer a Mercedes-AMG version of this beast, the S63 4Matic Cabriolet. It features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 horses and 664 lb-ft of torque. This variant can hit 60 miles an hour in just 3.9 seconds.

Despite losing its roof, the S-Class cabriolet’s body is supposedly just as torsionally rigid as the Coupe model on which it’s based. Despite sharing numerous components, a few special parts help up the stiffness of the droptop version.

As for all-important pricing and availability information, I can’t tell you when the new S-Class Cabriolet will go on sale nor what it will cost but later and A LOT are probably safe guesses.

Pricing is yet to be announced...
