Deleting adaptive headlights??

To start off, I have searched.. alot..

So here's the lowdown. I'm in need of an adaptive headlight replacement for the third time in around two years. The roads around here just take a toll on these things. (Though this time it was condensation that killed it). Tired of dishing out the time and money constantly to just have the other side have an issue a couple months later. So I've went ahead and ordered a set of ecodes, they should be getting here before this weekend. So I know I'm going to need to code out the adaptive function, but is there anything as far as the wiring harness that I'm going to have to modify? Has anybody on here done this? Walk through or tips on coding them out?

Thanks

A film where the primary suspect dies in a car accident at the end

Hi All,

I have spent several hours searching online, for a film I saw on TV about 5 years ago. I cannot find it though. I wanted to know if this sounds familiar to you - plot / notable points :

A murder or abduction theme, set in a rural location in the US.

A junior detective, or amateur sleuth, believe they know who the murderer / abductor is. They lay a honey trap to catch the person that they suspect. However, the finale of the film, is that the guy never pitches up, even though the perfect trap has been set.

Then we see a truck in a ditch, or some sort of wreck, where the murderer / abductor has been killed in some random accident. Thus the sleuth / detective is never proved correct in their theory, even though we, as the audience, know that they are correct in their assumptions and suspicion.

I am pretty sure the film was made within the last 20 years.

I cannot remember who the actors were, nor have any idea as to the title of the film. I think I saw it late one evening and probably only saw the latter half of the film.

If you recoginze this ... I would be grateful to know the name of the film.

Cheers ...

Towing with an E92 335i

There are a few threads on this already but not much solid info regarding the E92 335i.

Most websites "fit-guides" only include the 325i and 328i due to the single sided muffler. I would like to be able to tow a small trailer to get my bike to the track, less than1500 lbs total. I know the car can handle it as there have been many examples of people towing jet skis, trailers with track wheels, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with a good hitch that is totally invisible that will fit a 2011 E92 335i M-sport?

feeler: BMW Performance Exhaust (335i)

Potentially selling my WEEK OLD exhaust from BMW as with my down pipes I am not keen on the sound. Comes with original box and even have all the bungs still.

Looking for £675 plus post (would rather you collect) based in Warwickshire.

I think I have ruined my 335i....

I added VRSF down pipes and a PE exhaust and it sounds utter dogsh*t

When I start it from a cold start it sounds like a tractor unless I hold the revs above 1200 rpm for 30 seconds....once its warm it goes back to being a burble which is nice.

It sounds like a vauxhall corsa from cold driving normally until its warm and it makes this really annoying rasp when I change gear around 6,000rpm.

ONLY time it sounds decent is warm, in park when I give it some revs.

:confused2:thumbdown:cry::barf:

Someone please tell me its because its all new parts....I cant be the first to find this.

SuperSprint Midpipe

Up for sale are my Supersprint Section 1 Cat-Delete Straight Pipes.

I have had them on my car for less than 3,500 miles, and I've decided to go a different route with my exhaust. The pictures of them are when I bought it new, and it looks pretty much the same except the pipes turned a light shade of yellow as does most 304SS products when exposed to heat cycles.

Just a FYI I cut these pipes approximately 3 inches from the end to fit my exhaust. I have a 2007 E90 328xi.

These pipes would work well for anybody considering doing the secondary cat delete along with their choice of muffler, but I would not recommend pairing these with catless headers because it will rasp (~1800rpm) and it will be loud even if you still retain the stock muffler. Please PM me if interested, thank you.

According to Turner Motorsports this will fit the following vehicles.

2008-2012 E82 BMW 128i

2006-2011 E90 BMW 325i 325xi 328i 328xi 328i xDrive 330i 330xi - Sedan

2006-2012 E91 BMW 325xi 328i 328xi 328i xDrive - Wagon

Electric Cutout on a 328i

I don't want to get a exhaust system due to the high price and my car is a DD and I have two kids. I was thinking about getting a Electric Cutout and putting it before the big resonator or what ever that long rectangle shape box is in the middle of the car. does any body an Electric Cutout kit that will fit onto the dual pipe because I don't think there is room to run next to eat other. does any have pictures of on installed on a 328? I see them a lot on 335 but not 328

OEM DAB radio (CCC)

Anyone know if it's possible to get the radio to default to DAB instead of FM?

I know there's a setting to switch to FM when DAB is unavailable, but I want it to always go to DAB when I select the radio source.

Is it a settings thing (can't find anything in the manual), or is it something that needs to be coded?

jb4 help...

I had it installed and have been using map 2 for a few days.

I was on the motorway last night and loaded it from 2,000rpm in 5th slow enough to not have the kick down come in....really slow spool pick up and then the engine mangement light came on and it reverted to map 4 (safety issue) on its own.

Plugged in the laptop and the only 2 code faults it has were to do with the decat pipes.....(which I thought the JB4 was okay with?!)

Codes: 29F4 catless downpipes detected and 29F5 catless downpipes detected.

Reset the codes and the lights gone off. Any ideas?

Best setup to tuck rear into the arch a bit more

When I park my car on the drive, the angle of it causes the rear wheel to sit much further in to the arch than it currently does. At present I have it sitting on H&R springs however I'm looking to go lower.

I am not that fussed about ride quality either, not looking to spend megabucks. Having browsed a few threads it seems that people are suggesting that ST coilovers are probably the best value for money, I used to have an Astra VXR which I bought KW V2's for but I never tracked it so the difference in what I spent was never really justified, I could have got cheaper coilovers and had money left over.

What would peoples suggestions be for a coilover to achieve tucking the wheel further into the arch and also, based in the UK where would be the best place to purchase them?

Cheers

PA / MD shop for lowering/alignment?

I have an 08 e90 on oem sport suspension, but am mulling the idea of going with some eibachs pro kit springs + koni struts....

However, before I commit to anything, I would like to find a reputable shop that can:

1) Install these and are familiar with lowering cars and/or BMWs

2) do a proper alignment after everything is installed... Obviously sitting low, not many shops have capabilities on getting a car on a lift.

I'm located in central PA, about 50 mins from Baltimore, and 1.5 hrs from Philly...

I am looking for pricing on install/alignment and suggestions on where to take my car.

Also would be willing to have a forum member help install them (need spring compressor) but I'd obviously still would need to get it aligned somewhere.

I think sonic tuning is located somewhere in MD?

Side note - will a BMW dealership be able to get my car on their lift after I lower my car? I use my local dealer for a lot of maintenance as they have fair pricing.

MSD80.ipo

I'm trying to reset adaptations with INPA and when I attempt to enter the engine menu I get an error that it can't find MSD80.ipo. I have sp-daten 53.0 and I cannot find this file within in.

Can anybody recommend a local so. fla. automotive locksmith to code virgin BMW keys? Need somebody in the fort lauderdale/pompano/deerfield/miami area.

In the process of retrofitting comfort access in my e92 335i, already have the harness, antennas, door handles, door wiring harnesses, and comfort access module with wiring harness installed and coded to the car.

I have my two old keys, but I also have two new "virgin" uncoded comfort access keys.

Wastegate Rattle or other?

Hi, I recently had catless DPs installed and then started hearing what I thought was the wastegate rattle, so I took it to the dealership and they replaced the turbos under warranty and also replaced all vacuum lines. However, I still hear a rattle around 2500 to 3200 rpm when accelerating and the engine is cold. Car is currently running stock so the JB4 or backend flash wasn't the cause. I think DPs were installed correctly because initially when they weren't I could feel rattling when turning and could even feel it in the steering wheel.

Is this noise I hear the wastegate rattle or something related to the catless DPs or something else altogether? One posting said it was loose bolts on the propshaft centre bearing, could this be related to DP or turbo install?

Need Someone to Remotely set up my coding software

Hello all. I have tried, and tried to get inpa, and the rest of the coding software set up but up to this point have failed.

Right now I believe I am able to connect to inpa, and get the two black dots indicating some connection is made. When I turn off the car, the black dots go away(this is good right?).

Unfortunately when i go to test the airbag, etc, i get an error that reads the following:

"Requested control unit: 'MRS5' not found. Control Unit found: 'ACSM2'. Program will be stopped.

Again at this point, unless someone has a good suggestion to get it working - I would gladly just donate some funds Lol or pay someone to remotely get things working for me.

I am ultimately interested in getting INPA to work, so I can replace/code an injector and also get rid of a few dong noises the car makes.

Let me know guys, PM me and shall respond ASAP. Thanks!

Best place to get the Bmw perf suspension kit

I am thinking about pulling trigger in Bmw perf suspension kit. My understanding is that this comes with new dampers, Bmw perf yellow perf springs, new front anti sway bar, and hardware for install. I am seeing this kit for 1400 on turner. Is that right? That seems very high.

The alternative is koni yellows wth the perf yellow springs. If I went this route do I need new perches and hardware. I am having trouble on what I need. Who is best to deal with to walk me through.

Thanks

URGENT!! Pic of ER charge pipe clamp needed.

Unsprung weight saved going from 19" to 19"

Hello

Just wanted to share this. I thought that my euro 325i with M Sport suspension felt a bit heavy when driving around, handled well and so forth but missed something. Almost like the struts/shocks couldn't handle the weight of the car. Thought about down-sizing the wheels to 18" but when I ordered the wheels from a dealer they ran out of stock on the 18"s so I got a set of 19"s for the price of the 18" (hey, can't complain). Thought this would mess with my weight-savings plan though.. but as it turns out I saved a total of 13,72kg ~30,2lbs switching from AC Schnitzer Type IV Racing (probably made in Taiwan) 8,5x19" ET 33replicas with staggered tires (!) 235/35 & 265/30 Kumho Ecsta SPT to 8,5x19" ET35 Ocean Caribien (aka Alufelgen SF-71) with 235/35R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I knew that the wheels weighed 10,7kg/23,6lbs and the tires a little bit less but the weight of the old wheel set was unknown. Must say that the car felt lighter (in a good way) after the change, handles speed bumps better (less sluggish behavior) etc.. the butt-dyno says F YEAH but it might be placebo.. I'm happy nonetheless. :happyanim:

The next step must be Apex ARC-8's .. :D

Anyone else got a unexpectedly high weight savings when changing wheel sets?

Here's some pictures of the weighing for reference:

AC Schnitzer Type IV Racing replicas 8,5x19" ET33 & Kumho Ecsta SPT 235/35ZR19 91Y. 23,58kg ~52lbs

AC Schnitzer Type IV Racing replicas 8,5x19" ET33 & Kumho Ecsta SPT 265/30ZR19 93Y XL. 25,22kg ~55,6lbs

Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/35R19 91Y XL + Ocean Caribien [aka Alufelgen SF-71] 8,5x19" ET35. 20,97kg ~46,2lbs

A positive suprise is a good surprise.

..btw a set of the old Alufelgen SF-71 (sold as Ocean Caribien in Scandinavia) 8,5x19" cost around $820 in Sweden and equivalent VMR's (V710?) around $1650... :scared0016:

Is this your e93?

Suspension Question

Can anybody suggest a suspension set up?

I'm looking for improved handling, but I don't want the car to feel like its breaking in half every time I go over a speed bump or hit a minor pot hole. Could care less about the drop and definitely don't want to have a slammed look.

Checking out the various threads a lot of people seem to start with some kind of spring/shock set up, but always seem to go to coil overs (specifically KW V1 or SonicTuning). Why is that?

Turbo Actuator 335i (N54)

Hi sorry for another post; but what I thought was a failing Cat is a rattly Turbo Actuator.

Am I correct in fearing the worst and new Turbo's and massive labour bills?

Anyone else had this and what did they do to cure?

Looking for some input .....

I'll start with I love this car, but here lately it seems like all we get are problems. It's a 2010 with 35,000 miles. We just put 4 new run flats on and new battery a few months back, but all these code problems are starting to concern me. 1/2 back from a 1200 mile road trip yesterday the SES light comes on. Ran okay on the highway, but at slow city speed and stopping and going ran rough with a slight rumble. Got it right into the dealer and they said fault code 4593 smooth running controller, cylinder 2 and 004AE6 zero quantity adaptation failure. They wanted to remove intake manifold(aprox 8hrs) but could not tell me what exactly the problem is. They said if the controller just needs to be cleaned nothing is covered by my extended warranty(The Mechanic Program-Platnium Policy-$2289, purchased at Dealer) but if it's broken everything is covered - estimate $1300 aprox for labor - my responsibility if just needs cleaning.

Other repairs: 062014-30,400 miles - replaced o2 sensor

052014-29,669 miles - replaced catalytic converter

042014-29,341 miles - replaced NOX sensor

042014-29,341 miles - replaced pulse generator

082012-20,334 miles - campaign 18 05 12 M57 SCR components - replaced mixer, EGR valve

032012-18,576 miles - both front brake discs warped-replaced along with pads and sensors

022011-9282 miles - campaign - reprogram DDE control units

Granted, a lot of the above was covered or warranty or covered by dealer by goodwill, but I am having a difficult time getting use to the fact that this not so old car with low mileage is starting to throw codes and is having these types of problems especially when all I read tells me that the problems will only potentially get worse. My Mechanic Ext Warranty expires 052017 or 45K miles and I also purchased extended BMW maintenance plan.

So, get it fixed this time and take a beating on the expenses and get(probably lease) something else(probably not BMW - poor quality??) or roll the dice and keep it until all warranties expire?

Am i expecting too much in hoping for a more trouble free experience with these expensive, in my opinion, premium german cars?

Thanks for any thoughts - comments.

Know anything about glocks? O.o

I want to know if anyone has tried a grip reduction on a Glock before? If so, what material did you use to fill in the gap on the grip (if you used any filler at all). I always see people using hot glue to fill up the gap. Has anyone tried to actually find the same material that Glock uses on their frames and melted it into the frame as a filler? I hear the material is called nylon-6 or something like that. If worst came to worst, I was just thinking of buying an airsoft replica of the glock and melting that down. To be honest, I don't even know where to buy nylon-6 at in a raw and un-molded form like a block. If anyone knows, please do post :D thank you everyone

Rough cold start, misfire, black smoke help

hey guys I have ran into a problem and looking for some help from all you experts out there

this morning i started the car, it was a very rough start and the car was shaking a lot. it also had dark grey almost black smoke coming out from the exhaust and a very strong gasoline smell. the exhaust pipes also had a grey sluggish liquid coming out and dripping. with the rough idles, i noticed the rpms going up and down and also i can hear a loud fan (prob the radiator fan going max speed). the ses light blinks and also half engine light came on too.

i turned off the car and did some research and many pointed the problem to leaky fuel injector. ppl said to just drive it for a bit and burn off the excess fuel in the chamber and it will be normal for a while.

while driving around there is still a lot of smoke and a strong gasoline smell with a very loud engine (sounds like a tractor) and weak engine powers with ses light on). while driving did some code reading from my JB4 and got

29D1 misfiring, cylinder 5 multiple times

but during one of those reads i got:

29D1 misfiring, cylinder 5

29D2 misfiring, cylinder 6

29D0 misfiring, cylinder 4

29CC misfiring, several cylinder

after driving for 10 mins, things got smooth, i restarted the car and got full powers back. no more ses light and no more codes

car background

2007 335i E92 N54 currently 105k KM, (modded at 98k KM) JB4 map 1, DCI, Downpipe

in 2011 55k KM, had HPFP replaced under recall, scanned 6 injectors and replaced 3(1,3,5) under recall, spark plug replaced

in 2012 65k KM replaced thermostat

i know the spark plugs are due, and i have a set on the way. but to me it seems like whats causing the problem is a leaking fuel injector. is that right? and i read that you cant have mix old and new updated version of the injectors? and you have to replace 3 or all 6 at a time?

any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

need tire size advice for new wheels

Just ordered Apex EC-7's sizes 18x10 rear and 18x8.5 front. Just looking for some insight on tire sizes for front and rear that has a good flush fit on the rim with a decent amount of sidewall, like the M3/M4 have that come stock. I appreciate any help, thanks!

Summer tire opinions

As the title says, my baby needs new shoes. I can finally dump these horrible RFT's

I've narrowed it down to 2 tires. Michelin SS or Continental Extreme DW. My head tells me to go for the Contis as I'll be saving close to $300. My research indicates that the Conti's do not have the best steering response, compared to the Michelin atleast. Responsiveness is a big one on my list, but I would also like a tire that's quiet and has a comfy ride. Can anyone who has either comment here?

I don't track my car but I love driving twisty roads, and rowing through the gears. I know the Michelin is probably the best overall tire, but is it worth that extra $300?? At this point in life I'd rather not spend the money if I don't have to.

tire pressure

Currently I have 19 in wheels on an E92 with the sports package. The recommended tire pressure per the manual is 36psi and 41psi for a staggered setup. I plan to sell these wheels and tires soon because I got some 18s just so I can get all season tires.

Now that I have 18s, should I use the recommended psi of 32 and 36, even though my car came with OEM 19s?

Thanks

Battery Charging question

I have a CTEK 3300 float charger... highly recommended... even over the rebranded Deltran BMW one... and yes, I am using the under the hood connections.

Anyways...

The CTEK has a few different settings... as you can see, one setting for AGM/cold weather... I was using this setting over the winter due to cold weather, however now that it is warming up is the regular "car setting - 14.4V/3.3A" the correct one to use.

I do NOT have a AGM battery.

I have a white-top battery, which I understand is a "regular" battery... so I assume I should just be using the "car setting"

Also, are the regular white-top batteries "sealed"? ... as in, they don't off-gas do they? ... because my battery is still in my truck while it is charging and I know it is "possible" for off-gassing batteries to explode...

Double flashing hazards in Europe

I just had some coding done to my car in preparation for its inspection and registration in Spain. The guy who did the coding accidentally selected the double hazard flash option and now I am afraid it may not pass the inspection.

I am dropping off the car at the dock tomorrow in Galveston, TX and won't have the time to fix this.

For those of you in Europe/UK, will this cause an issue you think? If so, my only option would be to have it coded remotely. Problem is I don't have the cable to hook up to the car, and it might be a bit tricky to find a good spot for wifi for my laptop as the car will be in Barcelona and I don't know anyone there with a house where I can park the car and pick up a wifi signal.

Oil leak?

Does anyone know what kind of leak would cause oil to be all over my spark plugs? I'm misfiring in cylinders 5 and 6, went to swap the coils and plugs to see if I had a bad plug. Found out all 6 plugs are covered in oil and have oil dripping off of them. Hoping it may be a simple gasket or seal

Feeler: 2013 335is DCT with thoughtful performance mods

I am contemplating selling my 2013 335is with DCT and every option other than comfort access. Black on Saddle (gorgeous and rare combination). 25.5k mi. 19" wheel option.

I've modded the car to be the perfect street and performance weapon, with no major compromises in either direction (not too extreme nor too slow). The parts are nothing but the best and I will even provide spares where applicable (see below).

Mods list:

- Setrab oil cooling with Improved Racing thermostat + Rob Beck delete plate and braided AN lines and hose ends. NEVER goes into limp mode even at 10/10s and 90 degree weather.

- JRZ RS1-based suspension with 450# linear rate springs in front and 800# in rear. With these dampers the ride is less harsh than stock ZSP but definitely firmer. Change the damping setting on the shocks though and you can go from race track wild to commute mild.

- Right now I have Vorshlag Race camber plates but will be converting to Ground Control Street plates as they make less NVH. Aggressive camber or mils street, at your preference.

- M3 bushings and arms all around, including subframe, and Megan (Hardrace) toe links for hop-free and zero-deflection cornering. There's that no compromise thing.

- e93 M3 front sway bar and Hotchkis rear sway bar with adjustable endlinks front and rear. Perfect balance without losing traction in the rear (I started with an M3 rear bar and it was too stiff for rear traction out of the turns).

- Quaife limited slip differential! This is the part that brings it all together. The car puts the power down, period. Without this mod, everything else is pointless. MUST HAVE. Includes a set of Powerflex diff bushings to keep things in check.

- Cobb Stage 2+ tune with mild tweaks. Aggressive but smooooth power. ETS 5" intercooler along with AFE semi-sealed dual intakes (plus ram air ducts), and AFE downpipes. Sounds absolutely beastly and yet refined. WOT is like praying to Thor.

- The stock 19" 313 wheels are shod with NON runflat Michelin PSS in 245/275 series front and rear. Major traction for the street.

- For the track I also have a set of 17x9 Apex ARC-8's with Toyo R1R's with less than 1,000 miles on them. Those wheels have their own TPMS sensors! All included in listed price.

- Also have a set of 235-series winter tires (Mich Xice3) which fit on the track wheels, assuming you have snow in the winter these are a must have too. Also included in price.

- The final big part is the Stoptech BBK all around - black calipers. 6 pot in front and 4 in rear. Simply amazing pedal feel and never fades. Ever. EVER. Running braided SS lines all around, including the mid line in rear. System filled with Castrol SRF brake fluid.

- BMS oil catch can and RB Turbo PCV valve. Oil consumption and blow by are totally managed by this combination. Speaking of, I did oil changes every 7500 miles or less, using German Castrol (BMW certified).

- PAINT PROTECTION - the entire front end of the car is clear bra-ed. Not half hood and half fender, but FULL hood and fender. Car is also debadged for a nice stealth look.

I probably forgot other stuff but those are the main things. As I said, I'm not sure I'm selling the car... but if I get serious offers then I will likely be stepping into something faster and more purpose-built for tracking. That's why I'm thinking of selling.

Disapointed With Brake Disc's

So I had some Pagid (iirc) disc's fitted approx. 3,000 miles ago but th other week they developed a brake judder, took them back to the garage that fitted them & was told they had a warranty so he would replace with a different make (that I can't recall) after 2 weeks they look like this

Strange one-sided OEM angel eye error

On my father's 2007 E93, today the passenger side AE bulb went out. I replaced it with an OEM halogen bulb. It didn't work. Suspecting an issue with the FRM, I scanned it using Tool32 and there are no FRM short circuit errors stored in there. I also checked fuses 42, 61, and 6 - no dice there, either.

Any idea what could be causing the AE bulb to not function? All other aspects of that passenger side headlight function perfectly normal...

HELP!

Ok. I have had the JBD installed for about 3k miles with now issues. Today I was driving the car fairly hard and then boom. Service Engine Soon light pops on. I purchased the JBD on craigslist so I do not have the JBD CAN tool. I have my Bluetooth ELM327 OBDII reader but I have to pay for the Torq app again because I switched from Android to Apple. Here is my question.

What app do I get? BMWwhat App? Torq App? Do either of these apps detect the "TunerDetected" code?

I need to bring the car into the dealership eitherway and I want to make sure the "tunerdetected" code is not present when I bring it in.

PLEASE HELP!

Adjusting the actuator rod

Trying to clear things up (are my following thoughts true?):

- default position (ie engine off) the wastegate is fully open

- when turned on, vacuum either leaves it open or seals it, depending on BMW software version, or your JB4 settings

- using JB4 settings of 4.5RPM on menu 10, makes the actuator attempt to seal more than normal under low rpm and throttle positions, and can help to eliminate rattle

- If I adjust the rod, by turning the rod in the OPPOSITE direction of when i loosen the 10mm nut, it will tighten the rod (shorten it), aiding the actuator to seal the wastegate, thus lessening or eliminating the rattle/flutter

- If I turn it a few (3 to 4) rotations, and there is NO CHANGE at all in the rattle/flutter behavior (very clear upon de-accel and coasting), what is the reason? Are the actuators so broken that they still can not create a seal?

Just let me know if the above points are true and make sense. I have turned the rod a few times now over consecutive days, but it does not seem to have any change on the car's behavior or rattling noise.

I am tempted to continue the adjustments until I get overboost or other obvious issues, in an attempt to fix this awful noise. I have muffler delete and catless downpipes, so the sounds are VERY audible. Over 80k miles and looking to avoid a solution other than purchase new turbos.

Help with old 17" spider spoke 160 wheel look...

Hi all,

I've a sparkling graphite saloon with the old spider spoke 160s (not staggered). I've just booked them in for a full refurb.

276K What to Do...

Okay, so I know this is a 1st-World problem, but I'm throwing it out to E90 Post to solicit opinions. Just to refresh the car is a 2006 E90 325i with manual trans and sport package, and HIDs.

It's well documented I probably have the highest mileage E90 on the Forum, and probably in the US per BMW USA (as of August 2013). But I'm getting near a cross roads. As one would expect with any car at this mileage it has some issues. The simple ones are:

  • HVAC blower motor (2nd go around)

  • Radio faceplate is fading

  • Suspension parts are worn

  • Need new floor mats

  • Windshield needs replacing

  • Probably should redo the shifter bushings

The harder ones are (meaning I don't have a good diagnosis for them):

"Lumpy" idle - just at idle. A BMW tech said it was the coils (all are original). I've searched and found a thread that an E90-Poster replaced his engine mounts. Or maybe its the eccentric shaft sensor. Or maybe the dual-mass flywheel weights no longer slide around like they should... No check engine light. Haven't scanned for codes in awhile, but I had it at the dealer for an alignment in November and general evaluation and they found no codes.

Vibration in drivetrain at high RPM, 4,000 and above. Now this one came up in February 2014. When at full throttle the drive train gets a loud and grainy vibration in it that you can feel through the whole car and in the shifter. I can pull in the clutch and get off throttle and the vibration slowly fades as the engine drops RPM. I've replaced the driveshaft center bearing - the obvious 1st culprit. But that really didn't change anything. If drive the car at speed in the same RPM range, but not at full throttle there is no vibration. Maybe the exhaust is worn out and there is some time of exhaust flow pressure harmonic building up in the exhaust. Or maybe it is the engine mounts, or maybe the flywheel...So this I just can't figure this one out.

Oil consumption. So that's increased some from when new. Still acceptable in my book at around 5,000 miles per quart. I've got a weeping oil pan gasket, but it not gushing. The rear crank seal is leaking a bit too. Valve cover is leak free. I've not yet checked the eccentric shaft connector. I'm thinking the oil separator system is in need of refurbishment or just dirty. The exhaust is clean, and the engine seems as powerful as normal. Fuel mileage average has dropped maybe 1 MPG since new, so I don't think the engine is about to grenade or anything, but who knows...

But the real issue at hand is the clutch. After this many miles, it's about to need replacement. It's not yet slipping, but it's getting a bit harder than normal to actuate.

And that's the 1st world problem. I can live with the rest of the issues mentioned above, but once the clutch goes, I've got to do something about it. And keep in mind I've got a full auto shop at home with lift and air tools so none of these problems are beyond my DIY capability, it's just money and my free time. But does one put a few thousand dollars into a 276K mile E90 at this point? Or do I get to the point that the clutch needs replacement, call it a day, decide I got my money's worth out of it, and say good bye (keep in mind I love this car and no other car in 2015 excites me to drive it, except maybe an ATS). The body is rust free and in good condition. So is the interior. I've replaced a bunch of stuff along the way, as well documented in other threads, and then there the oil life monitor issue (also documented in other threads).

Just thought I'd throw this out to the Post for comment, on this 1st day of Spring 2015...

Is there a difference in the steering hardware setup of the E90, E91, E92 and E93?

Is there a difference in the steering feel or hardware setup of the E90, E91, E92 and E93? Not including the M3 in the comparison as clearly the M3 is different.

Do different body styles of the E9X utilise different suspension or axle designs? or different power steering pumps? or different power steering hoses, or racks?... etc.

I know the active steering feels different to the standard steering, but with that put aside, are there any differences between different body styles of E9X?

How about differences in steering feel between different engine setups? Do 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i, 330i, 335i all have the same steering feel and hardware?

The reason I am asking, I drove my cousins 2008 E92 335i 6AT and the steering felt a bit different to my 325i 6AT. Both cars don't have active steering.

Buying parts in Europe

Having had my 335i in the US for the past three years one has become quite spoiled with the availability of reasonably priced aftermarket/replica parts. There are a few small issue with the rear bumper cover has a 2-3" long scratch, that is probably the worse scratch damage on the car also has a small one near the drivers door handle. no dents at all on the car except for one very small bubble in the rear bumper cover its probably 1/2". The car isn't perfect, but I think its in great shape. its been a southern car its whole life, and my daily driver.
