M5 345 Replica wheels

I am looking for a set of winter wheels to put on my '14 535 but would like to keep them for my '16 M5 when it arrives. I've gone round and round trying to decide the best solution. I also want to run a square setup. I have found these replica wheels but the offset scares me. I would buy a complete set of 19x8.5 with offset of 20. Would this work without spacers on my 535 and future M5?

http://ift.tt/10bO9Tg

The same company offers a 19x8.5 with offset of 35 but are back ordered.

Which would work best?

Thanks for any advice.

"Ready" on the tach....

WTF does this mean?

It's at the left aspect on the tach.

i think its ready...maybe I'm wrong...it doesn't light up or anything.

any ideas?

and no, I did not :sign0012:

peeling interior trim.

Ok I'm sure there are threads on this, but I didn't seem to find them.

What have you done to fix this? The black pieces in the car that seem to peel over tI'm even the large center console . Any ideas to fix? Best paint?

Tape Remover, please help.

Anybody got good way and product to remove tape off my car paint? I still have the dealership's name taped to my car (you know how they like to advertise on car by sticking the their name on your bumper).

What is best way and product to remove the tape without damaging the paint?

Done the M3 speedo LED mod. Few pics

to start...i am not a pro at all. i have never used a soldering iron before and i looked on youtube how to use it

It was alot more harder and time consuming than i thought. i took my dads soldering iron which is not a small pin point one which made it even harder.

The patience and focus i had to put into it was crazy as the LED's are like the soze of a bogey (depends how big your nose is) but you know what i mean

Couldnt get a DIY as its my first time but i no doubt will be doing my brothers 123d and my mums so maybe will get a little basic DIY up sooner than later

Here are some pics.

I never had a red sharpier so i done them in blue- need to touch up on the edges though to make them better but wont take long.

Makes a real big difference to the dull orange lights.

Deer hit my car!!

Well I was driving down the street and passing an SUV the moment I got ahead of the SUV, bam a deer nails the front of my car. Cops came and everything. From the looks of it, it looked like the car needs a new hood, bumper, right headlight, and there was some damage to the right side panel next to the hood, and a crater on my hood from the impact. Deer ran off into the woods, I hope it had a slow and painful death. Hopefully no internals were damage as the car from what I could tell was running fine. BMW roadside assistance came to tow it after waiting for 2 hours.

My car is a 2012 Jerez Metallic Black, ZCP fully loaded with 15k miles.

Luckily WI is a diminished value state. So how much should I expect the value to go down so I can fairl estimate how much I should seek from my insurance company.

FRM to FRM3 Help

So soon after installing and trying some coding I realised the LCI headlights were not like the rear lights.

Ordered a FRM3 module, arrived today, took apart the car and installed it hoping it would be magically plug and play. Nope! :(

Instead no lights working and threw up error code CC ID 231 & 354.

Done some research and looks like I need to program (flash) it as well as code.

Do I Flash the module with my VIN first and the restore to factory setting using the code below or other way around?

1.Open NCSEXPERT

2.File > Load profile > Select Expertmode > Click OK

3.Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)

4.Press F3 (CS/FA f. EC) > Select E89 > Click OK > Select CAS > Click OK

5.Press F6 (Back)

6.Change job to SG_Codiren

7.Execute job

And I have read to flash the module to use WinFKP or Tool32 (I assume this is when you enter the VIN and Date) Can't seem to find steps on this so if any one can lend a hand it would be much appreciated :D

Harrop Engineering Supercharged M3 at Winton

October 20 was a great event for the Customers of Harrop Engineering when they had a track day at Winton Raceway, 2 hours north of Melbourne.

It was great to have members of our forum attend 2 of my friends down from Sydney, who did the hard yards and made the trip down for the event.

The day was perfect, weather was hot and clear and everyone who participated gained a lot from the day. With 5 professional race drivers coaching for the day you could not go wrong.

Some great M3s amongst the GM line up. Here is a vid of Harrop Supercharged M3 running and testing the latest calibration now in customers cars

Adaptive Suspension

Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but is there any word on the suspension for the M2? Personally I prefer a non-adaptive suspension, and recently found out that the M3 actually comes standard with a non-adaptive suspension (I honestly thought it came standard with adaptive), which had me excited and hopefully thinking that the M2 will come the same way.

However with the M235i coming standard with the adaptive set up I am obviously not sure and was wondering if I had somehow missed if any info had leaked on the standard suspension set up for the M2?

CF Wrapping Interior Question?

So I'm thinking of wrapping my interior in CF. Right now ive got the aluminum silver interior trim however I bought the car used and it has got small chips in it (width and depth <1mm).

If i wrap, will it still look okay? I was going to sand it all down as much as possible to make it smooth. I don't want the CF to dimple into the existing trim.

Also does anyone know where I can buy fluro red/orange lining for the interior? using for lining under the trim etc.

Cheers

Whats the average maintenance cost for x1?

Whats the average maintenance cost for x1?

I know the first 4 years maintenance fees are covered. But how much should I expect per year after that? Ie: Oil change from BMW, and other stuff that I might've to replace due to wear and tears etc.

Coding out: 3 little Amber LED's in the headlights?

Has anyone successfully coded out those amber little leds in the headlights? I'm not a fan of Amber light and had it disabled before on my e92 M3... For some reason the code posted for the F8X doesn't work.

Has anyone done it yet?

Waiting for M5 ED....pirelli or Michelin tires ??

My M5 went into production last week ED. I have read all the reviews and it appears the best and preferred tires for the front and rear are the michelin PSS rather than the Pirelli p zero max performance tire. From what i can tell BMW will put one or the other on the car. Is there any way i can request the Michelin so im not stuck with the Pirelli??

Any thoughts ??

Voltphreaks Lithium Battery

Hey guys, I just got the VPH-750 in the other day. They are made to order so it took about 8-10 days to receive it from the day I ordered it.

I've used other "light weight" batteries in the past such as a braille or equivalent and always ended up hating them. They either died prematurely or didn't have enough juice to start cars in cold weather or harder to start e85 fueled vehicles.

I did some research on lithium batteries and I decided to go with the lightest model they made for the ultimate weight savings and just to see if it could handle the task of powering a modern, accessory laden e92 m3. I think most guys would use the VPH-900 for the e92 m3.

It's super light, and very well built. 5lbs vs. OEM 60lbs.

It feels sturdy in your hand and is astonishingly light when you go to pick it up. Build quality is also very high. No rattles or odd noises. The battery posts are nice and sturdy. I opted not to get the remote harness because if the low voltage cut off is every tripped, you can always open your trunk via key to access the battery.

The battery has an internal low voltage cut-off built into it. If voltage goes below a pre-set amount the battery turns "off". You hit the button on top and the battery comes back to life so you can start your car. Essentially, you'll never be left with a dead battery! ;) I plan on leaving my car on a battery maintainer when I don't drive it for weeks at a time. That doesn't bother me.

Surprisingly, each time the engine turned over up nice and strong. I was a bit skeptical, as were my friends, but start ups felt crisper than even the full sized battery. To test it, we stuck the battery in a Corvette ZR1. It started it up back to back with zero issues!

I made a custom mount for it and used a couple self tapping screws to hold it down. I painted it black afterwards for a stealthy look.

I'm rather glad to have bought this from Tony @ Voltphreaks. You can also purchase these on ebay with a pre-made bracket. 55 lbs saved! I just need a rear seat delete and two racing seats and thats a healthy 170+ lbs taken out.

I'll put this battery to the test and will be updating the thread after a few weeks!:cool!:

iTronics ITB-100HD Dash Cam Video Sample

Installed this few months ago on the 135i but I got a few PM's asking how the video quality is. Overall it's pretty good. Daytime is obviously better but even the night time comes out well. The only weakness is the lack of audio -- mic is really weak. Others have taken apart the camera and drilled the mic hole bigger but not a big deal for me.

I picked up the iTronics ITB-100HD but since then they've released a "Plus" model. But for less than $200, continuous charging, GPS and parking mode I'm pretty content. I hardwired the camera directly into my fusebox and hid the wires between the headliner and A-pillar.

Sooty Exhaust

I've had my 2014 328I for just over a year now.

I noticed on some longer drives (over 200 miles) that the exhaust pipe is always sooty. It's enough that it leaves a mark on my finger when I run it along the pipe exit.

My past experiences with all my cars is that the pipe would be a light gray without any carbon soot.

Is this normal for this car. Is it a characteristic of the fuel system that doesn't allow it to 'lean' out on the highway?

Thanks in advanced.

E diff Killing rear Brake pads on a trackday. Is it just me?

Doing a few road course track days in the 135. I dont have an LSD. I am driving with the car in DTC mode, just a single press.

However I am eating rear brake pads, which I can only assume is due to the E diff. I am doing a set of rear pads per track day. This may have something to do with the face I am running stage 1.5 tune, and its lots of power to put down out of a bend. If it help I am running semi slicks too.

How does this compare to anyone else's finding? Is there a decent pad to cope with it. Or am I best to buy a cheaper pad and keep changing them?

Whats others experience of this?

I'm looking to understand how best to get the most out of my 335D.

Planning to at some stage get a custom remap and DPF delete as well sorting out the Egr delete.

I'm also interested in an aftermarket Intercooler and a Twin Turbo Diesel Downpipe... Wagner seem quite popular...

Does anyone have any experience with these or know what sort of gains they will have?

Thanks.

Convertible top motor noise - normal?

Hi, I am close to buying a low mileage Z4M roadster and this forum is very helpful. The convertible top motor was recently replaced. However, when I open or close the top, the car makes a rather loud buzzing noise. I can't tell whether the noise is electrical interference from a rear speaker or the motor or something else. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? I had a e46 m3 convertible, but it didnt make this noise. Thanks
