Over Mileage Question

Hey,

I am currently leasing a 2014 4 series. I would like some clarification of some rumors that I have been hearing around. I signed for 10,000 miles a year, which was a big mistake, and I know for a fact that I am going to go a few thousand over that by the time the lease is up. Now, I have been hearing that if you lease another car from BMW when your lease is over or do the pull ahead program, they will waive the extra mileage or they will discount it (aside from the .16 cents a mile). Is this possible? Has anybody ever experienced this?

Thanks.

Making Brake Ducts

I've been trying to come up with a nice way to make effective (not necessarily attractive!) brake ducts for the factory 135i brakes. I've been getting excessive, and uneven pad wear at the track which I think may be caused from heat (duh), but also localized boiling of the fluid right behind some of the pistons which would explain the uneven wear.

I started off trying to make it work with 3" hose and found these parts that I was able to bend/cut to fit the factory dust shield mount points.

http://ift.tt/1u4U9b0

I'd like to get it to blow on the vent inlet of the rotor, but it doesn't seem to be very possible.

I wanted the same looking duct on both sides. The passenger side has the oil cooler which complicated placement. I decided on a very thin, but very wide vent to capture a lot of air from underneath the car and direct it into a 3" hose.

It started to look like this (bottom removed) - using factory mounting points. I discovered that working with sheet metal involves cutting yourself.

Bottom installed:

The 3" hose is just a bit too tight, and I was able to push/shove/bend it into place, but I think 2" hose (can't seem to find 2.5"), might be the better way to go. If I go to the lock (steering), it will rub; not that I ever steer that far on track.

The vent was too low and would scrap on some bumps, so I modified it more to make the back end narrower. The amount of air that comes out of the 3" hose feels pretty good (ran the hose into the cabin and drove around; possibly getting odd looks from neighbors).

Thinking of redoing it all with 2" hose now and instead of using the 3" dust shield, just cut a 2" hole in the factory shield and use a 2" flange.

I used the aircraft spruce flanges:

Currently looks like this:

Thoughts/comments/help appreciated. Thanks!

-Joe

Spacers and Handling

I like how the M4 looks with some spacers, but have always been told (from previous track experience and from listening to others) that spacers will probably have a negative effect on handling, plus they add in another point on the wheel and hub (even with hub centric spacers) that is a weak point, susceptible to failure.

What's the general consensus on spacers (if there even is one)?

Anyone have nightmares about their 1er?

Just woke up from the most infuriating nightmare about my 128i.

The dream started off with some friends over for a rager at my house and then vans full of strangers came over and started partying and dancing. Soon after that I went into the garage to find people dancing in the garage where my car used to be.

So of course I internally start freaking out but to my amazement there was a team of 7 police officers partying at my party. Three girls and three guys and one undercover girl. I approach one who wasnt partying and then i begin to open the gates of hell.

My car is gone and some ******* is taking MY CAR for a joyride! I shut down the party and become so infuriated that I say, "**** this, I am going to go get my car back."

At that point I woke up and went immediately to my garage to the 128i sleeping peacefully.

Anyone else have these types of nightmare?

Different options in iDrive menu ??

I have visited my friends in Denmark. One of them just bought a new 320d. And I found a few different options in iDrive which I don't have in mine. F.ex. DRL are possible to switch off ( however in Denmark these are compulsory so you can't really switch them off but this option exists). Another one is remote key option for opening a tailgate only without opening the car, which again I can't see in mine. I think it is usefull option which I'd like to have but....

Another difference I found was something like "crusing" in Efficient drive setup but this could be due to a different engine.

I wonder if these are due to newer model or country related?

FS: BMW 335i Sedan, SGM, 76k low miles, 6MT, NEW TURBOS, Queens NY

Hey guys,

Up for sale is my 2007 BMW 335i e90 Sedan in Sparkling Graphite Metallic, 6-speed manual. It's currently 76900 miles, original - that equals 10k miles a year, which is low. I'm the 2nd owner (before him it was from what I understand a loaner car that turned into a CPO, and remained CPO until I bought it). The car is strictly garage kept in a private parking garage in Flushing, NY. CLEAN TITLE.

Condition is Excellent+. I'd rate it a solid 9 out of 10. Selling because I rarely drive it anymore after getting my job in midtown.

Here are the pros:

1) Besides JB4 and BMS DCIs, the car is STOCK. Nothing is modified with the transmission, suspension, internals, engine block, nothing. Genuine OEM Style 162's, staggered 18x8 and 18x8.5. Shift knob is an OEM genuine BMW ZHP shift knob, the front kidney grills are matte black from ECS Tuning, and the finishing rods in the lower section of the bumper are matte black to match, also genuine BMW. Everything else is stock.

2) The car's wastegates rattled at 65k and I got not only the wastegates serviced, but BMW Habberstad was generous enough to give me BRAND NEW OEM TURBOS at 73k miles. The engine pulls extremely hard and purrs like a tiger. No noise whatsoever. The HPFPs have also not gone bad but you'd have 2.5 years left and/or 43100 miles left under the HPFP warranty to get them fixed if they do. Car runs like an absolute dream, as if it rolled off the factory floor.

3) No accident history whatsoever. This is a clean title car, with the title in hand.

4) No faults whatsoever. Everything maintained, oil changed religously at 5k, car washed every other week.

5) All service records for my ownership are included, which means from July 2013 you'll see everything I did with the car, down to the oil changes and most importantly including the new turbos. I'd have every gas receipt too if it would fit inside my binder, that's how fastidious I am with this stuff. All original books and documentation, along with the two original keys, are included as well.

6) JB4. Car runs on Map 1 only, never raced, never tracked, never dyno'd. Spirited driving every once in a while, but not much can be done in Queens NY. DCI makes the engine sound incredible, and the turbo whistle is so crisp, you'll want to rev all day. Plus, of course, everything can be reverted to stock - original intake box included with sale.

7) Tires are Continental Extreme Contact DWS all-season tires, with less than 3k miles on them; basically just worn in.

8) Goodies include: tow hook license plate holder frame for the un-drilled front bumper, all original BMW tools in trunk, rear trunk mat (carpet remains untouched), yellow lamin-x'ed foglights, USB port from JB4 install for diagnostics.

9) Logic 7 surround sound system does not hiss - bass and treble are both extremely clean. This is a NON-iDrive car, which is exactly what I wanted since the iDrive system is terrible apparently.

Cons:

1) Driver side bumper chin has moderate curbing. See pic.

2) Passenger side bumper chin has slight curbing. See pic.

3) tiny rock chip on hood. Can be gone over with touch up paint. See pic.

4) 3/4 wheels have curb rash. Passenger side front worst with curb rash and a slight dent (air holds fine) from a mechanic dropping the rim when tires were changed. See pic. TPMS work for all wheels.

5) Slight rub on driver side rear bumper from careless parking lot driver. See pic.

6) 2 dimple door dings on passenger rear door. 1 dimple bumper ding on the rear bumper. I can point them out when you come look at it, very unnoticeable. Too difficult to photograph.

Obviously this car has been extremely well taken care of, and that's the way I treat everything I own - babied like my first born. This is the perfect car for anyone looking for a wolf in sheep's clothing. Fast enough to beat M3s (e46 and e90), tunable to beat everything else. Drive in comfort, luxury, and fast as hell. The last BMW you'll ever need to turn heads, or the perfect blank canvas for something truly epic if you're into that.

Asking price is 17k, but please feel free to negotiate. I think you'll agree the price is fair for the condition that it's in, for the way I've lovingly taken care of it, the low miles, the unmolested nature of it, and for what you're getting. No lowball offers, I know what this car is worth. Please be reasonable.

Here are the pics, hope you'll agree this is the best condition 2007 e90 335i you'll ever find.

Duraflex M3 body kit?

Anybody running this m3 aftermarket body kit. I know duraflex was pretty reputable for hoods on my fbody car but i was wondering if anyone is running these kits

http://ift.tt/1wQuA26

I know it says slight modification. Wondering what that entails.. Anyone have experience with this kit? I even found it for half price...

Does the front bumper work with stock 335 fenders or will i need the widebody m3 fenders..

I honestly want the liberty walk bolt on fenders but i dont know where to find them or what wheel fitment to go with. Ill be purchasing gts m3 18" repros

E90 interior noise

So, I fixed a few things on my E90 today, pretty satisfied:

- Brake squeal at low speeds (is the e-brake shoes)

- Window rattle/creak (turns out it was door seals)

- Door not lining up/closing all the way (was 1/8-1/4" off, simple fix)

Now, since its quiet inside I have discovered a new problem that seems much more difficult to fix. The plastic inside creaks constantly in the morning/when its cold and windows are up. It is coming from the center where the radio/navi is, and possibly the vent above the nav.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Other than rolling the windows down or playing the music load I can't get it to stop. If i push on certain areas it will stop for a second but come right back.

Thanks.

any good wheels for under $800

Hey guys I was wondering if you guys know any nice wheels I can get for under $800 already have tires . Just looking to get black rims. I liked vmrs

TPMS Question

So I lost 2 of my sensors when I had to get two wheels replaced from an accident because the tire shop forgot to remove the sensors from the old wheels and install them in the new wheels so now I have to buy 2 sensors.

Does anyone know where I can just buy 2 sensors instead of 4? I found a few but they only come with the sensor and no valve stems. Do i need to buy some special valve stems or does any valve stem work with them?

Thanks in advance.

Best lowering springs for F83 M4

I'm due to take delivery of my SO cab in late Sept and keen to see what springs others would consider for the M4?

Will the early birds just use F33 springs from the M sport 335i cab?

I know that's what was done on the M4 coupe and got a nice drop all round?

I'm thinking hold out for H&R's?

8th Annual M-Car Day @ Griot's Garage, Sept. 7, 2014

M-Car Day

Sunday, September 7

10:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Griot’s Garage, Tacoma, WA

Last year’s M-Car Day was a lot of fun, so we’re doing it again! M Car Day is the one and only day in the year here in the PNW when M Cars owners get together to celebrate and appreciate all of the wonderful BMW M Cars that have thrilled us over the years.

Please mark Sunday, September 7 for a very special day of camaraderie to celebrate all things rated M. Our hosts will be Griot’s Garage at their new flagship facility in Tacoma. Last year saw 200+ M Cars in attendance! This will be the 8th Annual M-Car Day to celebrate all of the wonderful BMW M Cars that have thrilled us over the years.

This event is FREE to attend!

Thanks to our sponsors: BMW Northwest, Griot's Garage and Haury's Lake City Collision, 425 Motorsports and SouthLake Europeans

Please plan to roll in between 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM so we can direct you to the appropriate section to park your M car. We’ll park the M-cars by E chassis type, so owners can compare notes on common maintenance issues and modifications. We’ll also have a section for regular chassis that have had M Power engine transplants. So S52 E30s and S14 2002s are welcome!

Here is a rough agenda for the day:

Griot’s Garage will provide each M Car owner in attendance with a free Car Care Product sample at registration. There will also be discounts in the store, so bring your shopping list.

Around 11:00 AM a Griot’s Garage car care specialist will pick a lucky car from the attendees for a car care demo in their garage.

We’ll have a food vendor on site for lunch. Bring cash and your appetite, yum!

After lunch, we’ll have the always popular raffle for some great prizes!

And for the second year in a row, we'll have a very special commemorative shirt with a unique design for the event. Really cool shirt again this year. Last year, the shirts sold out in about an hour so we printed a few more this year. Still come out early if you want to get one. Price is still a screaming deal at $15.

See you there!

Nicolas

F10 M5 Shift Knob w/M3 Boot Ring

For Sale: Illuminated F10 M5 Weighted Shift Knob and boot already adapted to a E9X boot ring.

Used for about 2 months, this knob was purchased new from Tischner. I had to canibalize my stock shift knob/boot to swap out the boot ring for the M5 knob. This knob comes with the M3 boot ring already installed so you wont have to go through the tedious process of ripping the old one off and glueing it to the M5 knob, its plug and play!

$100 shipped obo plus I need your old knob to replace in my car if I decide to go back to stock. I will ask for an additional $50 core charge which will be refunded upon receipt of the stock knob.

PM me with questions/offers.

-Curt

Opinions needed asap on ass

I have my car in for service. I have coded the ass to be off when starting the car as it's real annoying, rough and activates when not supposed to (like when I'm doing low speed maneuvers such as parking the car in my garage).

So question is should I let them take a look at it, the most likely answer being a software update. I would assume then I will lose all my coding.

So for something I'm unlikely to use should I even bother?

Wtb Fmic + Cp

Looking to upgrade from my stock FMIC setup. Let me know what you've got. I prefer the CP to utilize a BOV.

JB4 G4 vs JB4 G5

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the major differences between the JB4 G4 and the JB4 G5. I have a stock n54 e92 and am looking to do a ecu mod along with the alpina TCU mod.

My question is what are the major differences between the G4 and G5. I tried searching for this already but could not find anything that went into detail. Is the dash boost guage available with the g4? Can you still read codes with the g4? I really want to know what the difference is.

In the future I am not looking to do much more than full suspension and a few supporting mods like exhaust and intake. Since the price difference is about $150 dollars between the 2 I would prefer to save that $150 and buy the Alpina TCU mod rather than dump it on a G5 board if there is hardly a difference.

Thanks for any and all information :)

Black OZ Superleggera III + tires

I bought this car from a forum member last summer

These wheels are a bit too aggressive for my taste so I want to sell them. I would prefer to sell the tires with them because I'm going to switch to 18's

Wheels:

Black OZ Superleggera III (19"x8.5" Front/20"x10" Rear)

Tires:

F: Good Year Eagle f1 225/35R19 88Y

R: Michelin pilot super sport 285/25ZR20 93Y

So I know very little about these wheels, other than their price on Tire Rack. The wheels are in beautiful shape, so I'm going to price the set at 1,400 (wheels and tires) + shipping.

I have searched all over the wheels and can't locate the offset, but I'm assuming that if they are fitting on my car there shouldn't be a problem on m3

If anyone can direct me to where offset might be marked I'd be happy to look further.

what are your opinions on this kit? Has 2 wastegates, welds look great.

Got my X4 today and I have a question about the Cluster

Guys

I got my 2015 X4 3.5 M Sport today..

My Cluster has a screen thats smaller than the one in my 2015 X3.

The X4 Cluster Screen goes from the center then to the right.. The X3 screen is the whole bottom of the cluster and I expected the X4 to have at least the same Cluster..

I ordered the Nav Package in the X4 along with Premium and just about all the options you could order. Nothing said in the ordering system that I forfeited the nicer cluster.

I have 30 miles so far and Im in love but this cluster thing has me confused and thinking maybe they put the wrong cluster in the car ?

Is that possible ?
