Hello all!
I just took delivery yesterday on my 2015 335i M Sport 6MT and so far I'm LOVING it. First thing I did when I got home was added some BMS wheel spacers - 10mm front and 15mm rear, and installed the m performance grilles. Up next on the list (I need it pronto!) is tint. I'm currently happy with the stock suspension despite it being a tad floaty, but a little later down the line I'll add H&R springs with bilstein struts.
A little background - I'm 26 years old and my first car was a 2002 nissan maxima 6MT. I still have it, because I still think that car is amazing. When I was in college, my uncle sold me his '94 325is 5MT with a blown clutch for $600. From that point forward I was a huge BMW fan. That car was incredible - the inline 6 was just so silky and the car itself so controllable in any given situation. However, in 2010 I decided to part it out due to financial issues (poor college kid) and the fact that I got hit in it three times! First I was t-boned when making a left turn into my apartment complex, then rear ended twice. I still miss that car to this day.
When I got out of school, I bought a 2010 VW GTI used with 19k miles. Great car, but I got a lemon and I ended up having to park it for most of my ownership because the dealerships (I tried 4) were all awful and wouldn't fix the problems. I traded that in March of 2013 on a new accord coupe V6 6MT, and it was an awesome car. It really did nothing poorly - the steering, throttle, shifter, clutch, and brakes were all so responsive and everything worked the second you wanted it to. However...i got the itch to go back to RWD, so here I am.
So from that perspective (someone who predominantly has driven FWD cars), I have to say this: the F30 is one amazing car. For all the nay-sayers that act like BMW has completely gone against its roots and is no longer sporty, etc etc. I think you need to take a step back and look at the other 99% of cars on the road. They are nowhere near as fun and competent as this car is.
Also, the electronics on this car (iDrive, HUD, reverse camera, nav, etc) BMW has really gotten right. My friend's E60 wasn't anywhere near this good in that regard. Everything is so well thought out from the layouts and the options that you have to personalize everything the way you want it to. So far, the only things I've found that I'm not a fan of on the car is the fog lights that turn on when the blinker is on (looks like you have a burned out fog - I'll be coding that out), and the 6th gear is far too short for a car with this much torque. It should not be revving at 2500 RPMs at 70mph. My 02 maxima revs at 2000 at the same speed and it only has ~ 200 wtq at that RPM and a higher coefficient of drag.
Anyway, onto the pictures. They aren't the best quality and the car is dirty already, but I'll get better ones as time goes on. It's optioned as such:
- Mineral Gray with Black Dakota Leather and Anthracite wood trim
- Premium Package
- Technology Package
- Harmon Kardon Sound
- Driver Assistance Package
- M Performance Brakes
At the dealership:
One M performance grille installed:
