Will removing my driver's seat turn on a warning light?

Years ago, when I removed the driver's seat in my 98 M3 to have some upholstery work done,....I ended up having an airbag light on when I re-installed the seat. I ended up buying a tool to reset the light. Seems like it was $100ish. Wondering if I will have the same issue with my 06 330i sport premium? If so, wondering if the reset tool I bought for my 98 E36 might work,................OR.............if disconnecting the battery before I remove the seat might eliminate the issue,...and the need to reset the light after re-installing the seat.
