Idiot scratch

I've now got one. On a nice stainless Kimber Raptor II.

But how the heck do you otherwise get the barrel stop in without scratching? To be honest, I don't know how I got the barrel stop in still, it was very frustrating...I knew what needed to be done, but couldn't get the one little piece of metal to sit inside the frame.

My first 1911 (and obviously first time cleaning it). Any tips, suggestions going forward?
