BMW PPK Cost?

I called a couple of BMW dealerships to get quotes on the stage 1 PPK today. Both quoted around $1717 + installation. When i asked how much installation was one said $600!! the other said they will have to call me back.



Why is installation so expensive? I was under the impression it's just an ECU remap, how difficult can that be? What am i missing? :confused2
