Coding for EBT

Morning all,



So, after struggling to get SMS alerts working, I contacted BMW support and got a long reply. But in a nutshell, the opening para was...



"Having investigated your comments further, I can confirm that your vehicle is not fitted with the option Enhanced Bluetooth, it only has Bluetooth hands free. I can advise that BMW changed the Media Package structure in March 2013, previously Enhanced Bluetooth was a standard feature of a media pack. The new packages do not contain this feature and it would be for this reason that you are experiencing difficulty with connection and SMS."



SO I am cheesed off, as I asked the sales guy if I needed this option and he said no. And I am not happy to pay £280 to have SMS's read out to me. SO, and thinking about the dark world of coding.



Questions...



1) Is it safe?

2) IS there any kick back from BMW (will they find out, refuse to service in the future, invalidate the warranty, etc)?

3) How easy is it?

4) Where do I get the cable for this in the UK?

5) Is it easier to just forget it/pay BMW £280?
