I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.
I am having some problems with my N54 E90. My E-Fans are not kicking on, and from what I can gather that is causing my coolant to heat up to the point of boiling. However, I am not getting an overheat light or anything, other than a coolant light whenever the coolant starts leaking as a result of the boiling.
It doesn't seem to leak until it gets hot enough to boil. Is there an overflow of some sort in the system? It doesn't seem to leak immediately upon start up, and there isn't a static leak when the engine is not running. I know that the water pump and thermostats go out frequently in these. My water pump was replaced a few months back and I am in the process of changing my thermostat currently (waterpump cracked and it was replaced by a shop. I was unaware that they should just be changed together).
I was told by a dealership that if the thermostat went bad that it could be stuck open or closed and could be tricking the system into believing that the car isn't hot yet, which is causing my fans to not operate. Is this true? Is there any other possible causes for the fans to not operate? Thank you in advance!
