Clank/ clunk and jerk at 2200rpms

I have been getting clunks and car jerks when revs are around 2200rpms.

The issue does not occur if I drive slowly, below 2000rpms. The problem does not occur every single time when rev reaches 2200rpm, but does occur frequently, regardless of which gear the car is in.

I can replicate the problem even when car is parked by doing the following,
1. handbrake on, brakes on
2. select manual mode on automatic transmission
3. rev to 2200rpm and above when engaged in gear 1
=====> will get a loud clank

Any ideas on what might be causing the problem ?

Car is a 2006 E90 320I with 120000miles.
