An exciting moment! - I just received my first text message on the screen of my car, having followed Rich's suggestion of switching on 'Show Notifications' within the Bluetooth menu on my iPhone 5S. This may have worked on my previous BMWs, if I had only known about it!
I also get emails via BMW online (not via the phone) although no on screen notification and it is a bit clunky.
I had asked both the BMW sales chap I bought it from and BMW GB about this previously and been told something about Apple not releasing info to BMW, so it couldn't work. Thanks BMW...
