So my car has the stock 18" star spoke rims (style 287), 8" wide in front and 8.5" rear. I took the runflats off and put on Michelin PSSs in same size as the stock runflats - 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. I then proceeded to mod my suspension and then my engine.
The Michelins have been great, really liked them. The trouble is that now that my engine is tuned and has a couple of bolt on mods the Michelins aren't sticky enough. With hard acceleration the rear end kicks out to the side a bit, which sucks. I want to keep these rims but would like to go wider if possible without rubbing and without having to modify the fenders. Would also some top tier tires that have a little more grip than the PSSs.
How much wider can I go on these rims? I'm thinking at least 10 mm wider front and back. Also, which other tires would be a good choice and stickier than the Michelins?
Thanks,
Robert
